Missing River AR
SPORT 3 Hour and ELITE 8 Hour Adventure Race
-Results are Official
Thanks to everyone who showed up and raced the Missing River AR this year. We got a little taste of summer as the heat returned to play a factor. We love
River Rise Preserve SP because of the shade it provides at the Main TA and in spots out on the course. But make no mistake, those of you who raced, Sport and Elite, had to battle more than just the normal challenges of adventure.
Many teams experienced cramping and overall exhaustion during the race. Lack of rain made the biking difficult through the dreaded sugar sand. The water level in the Santa Fe River is the "lowest I've ever seen" according to many locals but the paddling was ok enough as the best Sport teams cleared it in about an hour.
It was the Bike section that tacked on extra time for Sport teams leading to the intense "against the clock" atmosphere for the three-hour competitors. Every mistake amplified, every shortcut considered, every second feeling like an eternity.
The leaderboards are full of fresh blood. In the Elite,
Florida Xtreme 3 continued their improvement besting their buddies from
Florida Xtreme 2 to capture their first race win.
Master Blaster finished in the top three for the first time as well with an impressive third-place performance. In the Sport,
Team Tiger Creek put it all together for the first time to run a nearly flawless race.
Pinnacle MobFit shook off what they thought was a back-breaking mistake on the Trek to quickly complete the paddle and clear the course with a time penalty. And rookies
find The Way did just that to beat
You're dead to me by a mere two seconds.
All in all we hope everyone had a good time at the third-annual Missing River AR in High Springs. Our favorite part of watching you guys race is all the frustration and in-team fighting that goes on during the event that turns into smiles, laughter, and pride when the hard work is done. Thanks again for coming out and hopefully we see you all again.
